Victorian Christmas

Nevada City’s 40th Victorian Christmas helps bring out the holiday spirit. The street fair organized by the Nevada City Chamber transforms downtown Nevada City into a big street fair with over 100 vendors, food trucks, hot mulled wine, holiday music and more.  You can stock up on Christmas gifts, sit by the roaring fire with roasting chestnuts or catch up with old friends.  Make sure to keep an eye out for the walking Christmas tree, Father Christmas and Victorian Christmas Singers.  You can take a ride on the horse-drawn carriage, grab a bite to eat at one of the local food vendors (An Honest Pie, Coloma WrapsCalla Lilly Crepes, Horn of the Bull Taqueria, Falafel Kis, Kali to name a few) or have a hot toddy from the Nevada City Chamber booth.  If you missed yesterday’s event mark your calendars for Sunday December 10th and 17th (1:30-6pm) and Wednesday December 13th and 20th (5-9pm).  If you can’t find a parking spot in town, remember you can always park at the Nevada County Government Center and catch the shuttle.  Nevada City Chamber Director Cathy Whittlesey said they are working on the number of shuttles, apologies for those who had to wait.  Grass Valley Cornish Christmas continues on Friday evenings till December 22nd.  If you missed the Outside Inn’s blog Grand Giveaway, there’s still plenty of time to enter, happy holidays everyone.

this beautiful city is on my “bucket list” to visit…I follow a lot of sites, stores & happenings with the feeling that I belong there as strange as that seems…although, it’s miles away I am still hopeful to visit one day!!!

It is part of holiday traditions to drive up to Nevada City for the Victorian Christmas. We live about an hour away and always drive up eager to see the event, where we can look for the perfect gifts, eat Hobbit food, hot cider and brownies and stroll the historic streets to take in the joy of the town’s festivities! We attended the December 3rd opening and had a great time. A few of our friends who are new tho the area came too. A good time was had by all! Thank you for this fun event! Happy Holidays !! xoxo
