Vintage Shopping at The Vintage Menagerie, chalk paints

The Vintage Menagerie in downtown Grass Valley is a treasure trove of goodies, from furniture to retro kitchen items and gifts.  The shop, located at 152 South Auburn Street is open Wednesdays – Saturdays (11am-5pm) and Sundays from 11:30am-4:30pm).  “The style of my shop is a mixture of vintage, retro to primitives and shabby antiques. I specialize in vintage kitchen and I carry a collection of up cycled painted furniture to crafty handmade jewelry and boutique items,” says owner Marcie.   The Vintage Menagerie is a distributer of Old Town Paints (Shabby Chic Paint TM), a locally manufactured paint from Elk Grove, California.  The owners, Bobby and Sasha, started selling their paint at flea markets about a year ago and have expanded to 60 brick and mortar retailers from California across the country to Alaska.  The May paint special  at The Vintage Menagerie is buy 2 quarts paint and receive 1/2 off Wax or Satin/Matte Finish or buy 3 one oz ( sample size) paint and receive a free one oz paint or Satin/Matte Finish free.  They have 52 colors of Old Town Paints and the Outside Inn’s blog has a 3 oz sample jar to giveaway, post a comment here and I’ll draw the winner on Friday, May 16th (happy to send the prize if you don’t live locally, but I get to choose the color!).  And if you’re coming to town to go on a vintage shopping spree check out my other blog posts on Elegant Salvage, Jane, Junk in the Trunk, Enid and Edgar and Green Light.

You’re welcome Ingrid, the little secret is that I didn’t know about them either, it’s amazing what our little town has, but I’m always on the look out and promise to pass along my finds.

I’m confident you’d put the paint to use… and yes, you’d like this store, they’ve got some great sources of inspiration for your crafty agenda too.

Denise and I just love this store! We have purchased numerous items there and always glance at the window displays as we drive by to see what is new. Wonderful business to visit and support!

In my mind’s eye Nevada County is the Upcycle Capitol Of The World. True story. They should coordinate a passport event for all the Upcycle businesses with a map… special passport discounts… live upcycle demos…a scavenger hunt/raffle! Elegant Salvage, Junk In The Trunk, Jane, Vintage Minagerie (who else am I missing?). Instead of a pub crawl, it can be a Cruise de Upcycle (will have to work on that title). Things that make you go hmmmm.
