My research assistant here admits that he doesn’t know much about fishing, hasn’t actually caught a fish in a non-stocked pond, but enjoys getting out in the South Fork of the Yuba River and giving it a try. California School of Fly Fishing, based in Nevada City, offers a variety of workshops and private clinics, click here for their class schedule. SYRCL (the South Yuba River Citizens League) has a great series of rafting trips, Salmon Tours, to learn more about the wild Chinook salmon in their spawning grounds, click here for a list of dates. “Fisherman have an intimate role in the preservation of endangered species,” says Wild & Scenic Film Festival Artistic Director Shana Maziarz.
