South Yuba River, Fishing

My research assistant here admits that he doesn’t know much about fishing, hasn’t actually caught a fish in a non-stocked pond, but enjoys getting out in the South Fork of the Yuba River and giving it a try. California School of Fly Fishing, based in Nevada City, offers a variety of workshops and private clinics, click here for their class schedule.  SYRCL (the South Yuba River Citizens League) has a great series of rafting trips, Salmon Tours, to learn more about the wild Chinook salmon in their spawning grounds, click here for a list of dates.  “Fisherman have an intimate role in the preservation of endangered species,” says Wild & Scenic Film Festival Artistic Director Shana Maziarz.  The winners from last week’s giveaways, the latte to Broad Street Bistro goes to Ellie and the winners from the Celebration of Life Triathlon raffle tickets 10 tickets to Valerie, to 5 tickets Kim and Megan, to and 3 tickets to Peggy, Joe, Georgette, Erin, Ariel, Lisa, Kayle and one ticket to JT, Tara, Karen, Sheila, Denise, Katrina and Sue.  Congrats!

Lovely, lovely photos. I need to pull out my gear and get back in the water. It doesn’t even matter if I don’t catch a fish – the act of being in Nature and the rhythm of casting is so relaxing!
