Chinese New Year Parade

Nevada City Chinese Monuments and ArtificatsHappy Chinese New Year, welcome to the year of the horse.  Over 100 years ago the Chinese pioneers celebrated the New Year with a parade down Broad Street. CATS is excited to bring the third annual
Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration to Nevada City.  Look for the parade on Sunday, February 9th, starting at noon at the Robinson Plaza.  “The Festival producers today are pleased to revitalize this tradition and to honor the early inhabitants of the old Chinese Quarter,” says Jeannie Wood.  The lion dancers of Eastern Ways Martial Arts of Sacramento will lead the parade and finish at Miners Foundry for an afternoon of Asian culture and information about the early Chinese pioneers of the Sierra Foothills.  The Outside Inn is a proud sponsor of this event, looking forward to a fun family friendly afternoon in downtown Nevada City.  Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration, photography by David Wong Nevada City Chinese New Year Celebrations© 2014 InnSide Nevada City, © Photos by Erin Thiem, Dan Thiem and David Wong
