Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn rocking The Center for the Arts in downtown Grass Valley. There are so many reasons I love our community, but last night’s show was example #1798745 for why our community is so amazing. We had world-class artists hanging out on a stage having a chat with the audience about message boards at South Pine Cafe, the hula dancers and the fun of parenting. If you’re not currently a member of The Center for the Arts check out their current membership drive and the lengthy list of upcoming artists who are coming to our community soon (Shawn Colvin, Cowboy Junkies, Jewel, Joan Baez to name a few). And if you missed the headlines the Strawberry Music Festival is coming to the Nevada County Fairgrounds this fall, click here for more details. So, regardless of your favorite type of music and entertainment there are so many options in our little community. The Center for the Arts has offered up a pair of drink coupons to one lucky InnSide Nevada City blog reader, post a comment on who you want them to bring to the stage and I’ll draw the winner on Wednesday, May 21st. So many opportunities to see wonderful performances locally! I saw Albert Lee at The Center for the Arts a few months ago and I’d love to see him perform again!

Johnny Clegg from 2 weeks ago was one of the best concerts I had been to in years, and last night topped it. Bela is such an astounding musician, and his wife has an incredible voice. It was sublime. And, to top it off, Bela took my request and played one of my all time favorites: Big Country. How cool is that?
He & She (or even just Matthew M. Ward), Allison Krauss, Debbie Harry, Prince, Sheryl Crow, Regina Spektor, Jonatha Brooke, Tune Yards (she lives in Oskland), Willie Nelson, Norah Jones, Diana Krall….the list goes on. Who lines up the talent for Mondavi? They can play in Davis and the next night play here. 🙂 Sigh…. If only it was that rasy, right? Well, I’ll be at the Jewel concert in July, so whomever scored that engagement, kudos to you!!!
