Foothills Celebration

The 17th annual Foothills Celebration, a joint production between Sierra Vintners & Grass Valley Downtown Association is coming to downtown Grass Valley on Saturday, April 7th from 1-4pm.  The event combines wine tasting and food pairings from local wineries and restaurants at 20 different locations through historic downtown Grass Valley.  “The excitement over this event is a joy to see.  We are very excited to bring together local wineries, beer producers and cooks in local downtown businesses.  Food and drink bring the community together in a such a sincerely delightful, social way.  New this year is beer tasting, as well as wine, which will expand the appeal and variety,” said GVDA Executive Director Marni Marshall.  Please note this is a rain or shine event (for those who want to see more photos of today’s Nevada City snow, check out the Outside Inn’s Facebook page).

There are so many great wine tasting options in our community, check out the Outside Inn’s wine tasting page for more details on local tasting rooms and events.

I can’t wait to go to this! And hopefully take a friend visiting from Santa Cruz. So glad to be discovering downtown Grass Valley since I now work there at Cheryl’s real estate office. Even if I don’t win the tickets, how much do they cost?

This sounds like a fabulous event! I’d love to check it out!
My favorite pairing… a Spencer steak and Cab!

I love pairing a good risotto with a smooth red like tempranillo. Bonus points if the risotto includes mushrooms! Cirino’s has some of my favorite risotto.

Sounds fabulous! My favorite pairing (for today) would be…A Montepulciano from Avanguardia along side a roasted tomato bruscetta. Throw in some burrata and I’ll never leave!

I would LOVE tickets to attend. I’ve never been. It would make a fun time with my hubby. I love food and wine. I always enjoy medium rare tri tip slices with a gorgonzola herb butter sauce drizzled over and topped with lemon sherry mushrooms paired with a peppery hearty Zinfandel.

There are so many great wines and food here, but one of my favorites is Sierra Starr champagne with Lazy Dog chocolate covered apricots!

A super dry and bubbly pinot grigio and a spicy goat cheese! (it normally would have been a very dry and earthy zinfandel … but less headaches with the white grapes these days!)

I always enjoy the food and ale pairings that Ol Republic puts on. Probably because it’s a nice break from all of the yummy wine. Wine from Avanguardia and Lone Buffalo never disappoint either.

Viognier and Sockeye Salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans and a steaming hot loaf of sourdough round bread. BAM! And don’t even think about serving pink or Atlantic salmon!!!!

I just can’t go wrong with a nice cabernet or Zinfandel, a beautiful steak and rich dark chocolate after!!!!
