The Nevada City First Friday Art Walk 2019 season kicked off in downtown on Friday evening with art receptions, outdoor vendors, music and more.  With 28 different locations both inside merchants and galleries, plus street vendors and art pop up shops, the event celebrates the arts while supporting the local businesses.  “The family friendly event encourages locals and visitors to shop inside our downtown shops and restaurants, creating increased commerce and exposure for local businesses and artists alike. Our goal is to create an increase in sales for both the businesses and the artists, while celebrating our community and enhancing our appreciation and awareness of the arts.  The Artwalk brings me such joy and satisfaction to see our community out together, neighbors greeting neighbors, friends supporting each other’s creative endeavors, and everyone just having a good time. The businesses are full of customers, the artists are selling their creations and the community is enjoying our thriving art scene,” explained event organizer Cynthia Levesque.

Celebrating the 6th season (check out the blog archives here, herehere, here, here, here and here for some of my favorites) I love that our community continually opens its doors and celebrates the arts.  It was amazing to watch The Aerial Lab perform in the middle of the street.  While I didn’t make it to all the stops, photographs include: Ruth Chase, KitkitdizziLeeAnn Brook Fine Art GalleryOsborn Woods Gallery at the Miners Foundry, Nevada City Winery, Shiva Moon, Gallery 125.

Shout out to the sponsors: Ready Nevada County, KVMR, Foggy Mountain Music, Miners Foundry, Three Forks Bakery & Brewery, Inn Town Campground, Sierra Food Wine Art and Nevada County Arts.  Mark your calendars for the two remaining events this year: July 5th and August 2nd.

Thanks Erin for all you do. It’s been great having a list of activities to do! I do foster care and most of these kids have not had the opportunity to do many of the things you suggest. Its a real blessing to see them experience it for the first time.

    Thanks for all you do.
