Nevada City Weather

South Yuba River, photos by Erin Thiem

2017 has started off with a bang, first snow, now the atmospheric river and huge amounts of rain. Nevada County Weather reports that we’ve had nearly 2 feet of rain in a week. I’ve shared some of the photos of our wild weather on the Outside Inn’s Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter and just added some of the video clips to our YouTube Channel.  It was exciting to see a clip of video of the 49 Bridge I took on the CBS Nightly News with Scott Pelley the other night.  Sending good thoughts to our friends at Lefty’s Grill, which flooded with the high water from Deer Creek and The Stonehouse, which has a sink hole in their parking lot.  Be safe folks.

To follow along check out some of these great resources:

And the winner of last week’s giveaway to Sierra Cinema’s CineCafe is Theresa Dreher, congrats!  Stay dry Nevada County folks.  For those of you who are looking for fun things to do this week, I’ve updated our events board, in addition to the Wild & Scenic Film Festival this week there are a number of other great things to do.

Hey Erin — if you can share more w/ your amazing peeps …
If anyone wants to help the folks at Lefty’s out, check out the GoFundMe Site … https://www.gofundme.com/leftys-grill-disaster-repair
to help cover the losses for employees and restaurant from business not being open (which rents the building, does not own it, so much not covered from flood insurance)

Also there is a meal train set up for the 15 to 20 that are there working all day.
Talk about community — Three Forks, Bistro221, Crazy Horse, Sopa Thai, South Pine, Matteos and more have all been bringing food to the 15 to 20 employees that are working there to get flood waters out and clean up (and rains next week not looking good for re-opening prospects).

We live in one great place!!
