South Yuba River
The South Yuba River in Nevada City is a special place. After a busy month at the Outside Inn helping many guests figure out which river spot was perfect for them (how far do you want to walk, children, how far do you want to drive, etc?), I finally took myself to the river! These photos are from a variety of swimming spots upstream from Purdons Crossing. For those of you who missed the post about the construction of the bridge, click here, parking is limited due to the construction. If you have been procrastinating on heading down to the river, go now, the water is very low and a perfect temperature. Remember– always pack out what you brought in and you want to get involved in helping the South Yuba River check out the SYRCL River Ambassador Program or check out the California State Parks Foundation.

Someone was having fun with neat underwater rock formations. Are those always there? Very cool. Question: Are there any trail maps to these swimming holes, or is it a locals only secret? 🙂
Cathy, feel free to stop by the Outside Inn’s office for information, maps and directions.
I am wondering if the spot right outside of Washington, Ca is still okay for swimming and rock jumping. Does anyone know if that is still around?
