Nevada City Farm to Table Event, photos by Erin Thiem/ Outside InnNevada City Farm to Table dinner, transforming Commercial Street in downtown into a farm to fork foodie experience. The second annual event was designed to “show people what a town square feeling looks like,” says organizer Reinette Senum.  “This event is an epitome of what a community can do, celebrating the best of the area, businesses, farms and volunteers.”  Shanan Manuel’s Feast & Gather Organic Catering organized the menu with neighboring restaurants: Matteo’s Public, Three Forks Bakery & Brewing Co., Café Mekka, Pete’s Pizza, The Crazy Horse Bar and Grill, The Fix, and Treats Ice Cream.  The Nevada City Chamber hosted the bar with local wine and beer.  Farms included Dinner Bell, First Rain, Mountain Bounty, River Hill, The Food Love Project, Jim Gates’ Nevada County Beef, Soil Sisters, and Angie’s Little Boy Blue.  The menu included: shishito peppers in cast iron pan; handcrafted peach, gorgonzola, bacon pizza; watermelon, feta, mint salad; green salad with grilled seasonal fruit; grass fed, flat iron steak with whiskey pepper corn rub and homemade lemon custard ice cream with ginger shortbread.  Ragged but Right and Earles of Newtown preformed last night while the Nevada City Film Festival screened The Cameraman on the side of Cafe Mekka.  While the event is more of a celebration for our community, the dinner did raise money for the Nevada City Boardwalk Acoustic Thursday and First Friday Art Walk music.  For those of you who missed this year’s event, mark your calendar for the second Sunday in August 2015.  I posted a shout out to the ticket sales on the Inn’s blog (which you can subscribe to in the side box on the blog) or you can email Reinette (mail@nevadacityboardwalk.com) and be added to her email list.  Click here for photos from last year’s event.  Did you make it to the event?  What was your favorite part, post a comment and share.
